Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently issued invitations to apply (ITAs) in the latest Express Entry draw.
A total of 648 ITAs were sent to candidates eligible under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).
To qualify, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 791.
Today's draw marks the second PNP-only draw of the month. The previous one took place on October 7, issuing 1,613 invitations to candidates with a minimum CRS score of 743.
In recent months, IRCC has followed a pattern of holding multiple Express Entry draws every two weeks, typically including at least one PNP-only draw. Since May 30, today’s draw brings the total number of ITAs issued under this category to 12,815.
This trend underscores IRCC’s ongoing commitment to increasing the number of domestic draws for Express Entry candidates already living and working in Canada as temporary residents. The goal is to help the department manage the number of temporary residents while also meeting its annual targets for permanent residents as outlined in the Immigration Levels Plan.
The next Immigration Levels Plan is expected to be released by November 1, covering the years 2025-2027. The current plan aimed to welcome 110,770 new permanent residents in 2024, although it remains unclear whether that target has been met so far.
For candidates receiving ITAs in the second half of the year, it's more likely they will be admitted in 2025, given IRCC’s service standard of processing Express Entry applications within six months.
What is Express Entry?
Express Entry is Canada’s application management system for three major economic immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP).
Candidates are ranked based on the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS), which considers factors like age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other human capital criteria. Each factor contributes to a candidate's overall CRS score.
PNP draws tend to have higher CRS scores because candidates nominated by a province automatically receive an additional 600 points. Additional points may also be awarded for having family in Canada or immigrating with a spouse or partner.
The highest-scoring candidates are most likely to receive an ITA in subsequent Express Entry draws.
